Our story

Rooftop Campers is a new and exciting venture for Highland couple Ben and Faye, set up during 2021 lockdown.

Ben and Faye have owned campervans for more than 25 years and have travelled extensively around Scotland and further afield. We love nothing more than an off-grid adventure somewhere remote and wild and we think the Scottish Highlands are hard to beat.

We have a family of 5 children (and 2 dogs and a few chickens!) and without a doubt the time we have spent outdoors with our family is the best time. We all love the rooftop tent and the feeling of being on safari and the extra space it provides. The views from the top are the icing on the cake. It also allows the children (or adults!) their own space – something our teenagers now demand along with Wi-Fi. We can’t guarantee the latter and would rather be without it!

Ben has converted several campervans and the ‘Macdui‘ has been his latest project during lockdown. When he isn’t converting vans, Ben runs an adventure company and is the chairman of the UK canyon guides, and Faye is a land manager with a great passion for the environment and nature. We would be delighted to help with any queries about places to visit or advise on adventures to be had.

Faye and Ben have travelled and worked across the world including in Ecuador, the USA, Sri Lanka, Canada, Austria, Spain, Iceland and Ghana but feel nothing beats the magic of the Highlands of Scotland. They decided to start a campervan hire company to allow others to have a Scottish adventure and to share our passion for the outdoors, for the big skies, highland scenery, nature and wildlife.

What Our Clients Say

We had the most beautiful weekend away in the rooftop campervan. It feels a bit like being on safari, sleeping up high with the stars! The van comes with everything you need, it’s been really well thought out & the map on the roof is a great way to plan your adventure. We had an epic time.
